Should I still use DVD to distribute content?

Every so often we take a call from a customer wanting to know if producing Physical Media is still a viable option.

The answer is unequivocally yes!

We think that in today’s competitive business environment it’s more important than ever to wring every bit of revenue out of content that you’ve created. Of course streaming content is the widest net to cast but it doesn’t always capture all of the revenue.

That’s why customers of all stripes are still choosing to distribute their content on CD, DVD, Blu-ray, USB Flash Drives and HDDs.

Customers producing CD, DVD or Bluray in 2024:

  • Documentary Film Producers – Often times selling into libraries and educational organizations
  • Small Art Film Producers – Selling direct to patrons at film festivals
  • Small Bands – Selling and Signing albums at Merch Tables at concerts and online to maximize revenue and fan interaction
  • Military – overcoming challenges with data stream security and logistics at FOBs
  • Large Content Distribution Networks and License Holders – Wringing as much revenue as possible through sales at truckstops, RV parks etc.
  • Medical Device Manufacturers – Utilizing CD & DVD’s inherent write protect features to make sure content is unaltered
  • Customers with Security Concerns – utilizing USB & HDD in conjunction with a field staff to upgrade onsite embedded equipment such as medical devices or Point-of-sale terminals that lack network connections for security reasons.

For 16 Years I've been spinning discs, printing flash drives and solving data distribution problems for all different kinds of folks. With a background in Small Business (SMB) Marketing, I've been focused on helping my customers maximize their revenue and minimize their frustrations. Oh...I've also been floating around the floatsam Jetsam of the Internet consuming firehouses from social media monstrosities since the early 2000s. I've seen a lot, I've done a lot and now it's time to share what I've learned.
